february 19, the lunas of lahaina, maui beat the big island’s konawaena 47 to 45
the title game made headlines for being a first in which two neighbor-island teams vied for the title, officiated by an all-female squad of referees.
droves of supporters for both teams flew out to oahu and many more watched its broadcast on television across the state.
the game was also streaming live (with video playback still on some sites) from hawaii’s oc16.tv (run by time warner). this interesting play and mix of technology and community made for some strong vibes in the air(waves) that night fueled by luna fans and supporters.
